Furniture from Peru is often referred to as coming form the South Cone (Spanish: Cono Sur, Portuguese: Cone Sul) of South America even though Peru is not technically in this southern geographical area and is located above the Tropic of Capricorn. The South Cone region includes all of Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and some parts of Paraguay and southern portions of Brazil which include the Brazilian states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná and São Paulo.

R Furniture is actively pursuing becoming certified as a sustainable furniture manufacturer. We have voluntarily done our part from the beginning. However, there hasn't been any certified forestry operations in Peru. Because of organizations such as the Rainforest Alliance and the Forest Stewardship Council, Peru is moving forward. We soon hope to be certified.

Cuzco School by Olinda Romani, Lance Reynolds

The history of the Peruvian painting has its origins at the colonial era. The Spanish, who aimed to convert the Incans to Catholicism, sent a group of religious artists to Cusco. The Spanish painters who arrived at the Viceroyalty of Peru taught their techniques to the local Amerindians and mestizos, teaching them drawing and oil painting. The Cuzco School (Escuela Cuzqueña) was an artistic tradition based in Cusco, Peru (the former capital of the Inca Empire) in the 17th and 18th centuries, after the 1534 Spanish conquest of the city. The Cuzco School is considered the first artistic center to teach European techniques in the Americas. Cusqueña paintings are characterized by their use of exclusively religious subjects, their lack of perspective, and the predominance of red, yellow and earth colors. They also used a lot of gold, especially with images of the Virgin Mary. Though the Cusqueño painters studied Byzantine, Flemish, Andorran and Italian Renaissance art, their works were freer than those of their European tutors: they used bright colors and distorted, dramatic images, and depicted their native flora and fauna as a backdrop in their works. Most Cusqueña paintings were created anonymously because of Pre-Columbian traditions that define art as communitarian. This site is dedicated to Antonio Romani

He enjoyed to design furniture and accessories in the Old World, Renaissance style as well as modern contemporary designs. He also taught many family members his crafts before he was able to work with his daughter Olinda and her husband Lance. He painted abstract art for fun while he was in Germany.

He is remembered as a teacher, painter, carver, designer and friend. He traveled to the United States, Germany and Italy. He studied forestry conservation in the 1970's. He traveled into the Amazon rain forest and selected woods and often used woods which were at that time not commonly used for furniture. He was concerned about using woods which were endangered. He studied minerals in the Andes.

His pieces have been sold to embassy's and palaces. He coined the term Cajamarca (box mirror)which today is commonly used to describe the box frames used for reverse painted glass mirrors.

RECEIVING YOUR ORDER

Upon receiving your order, R Furniture will send you an automatic Order Confirmation via email. You must, of course, fill out the "YOUR ACCOUNT" form to purchase anything online. R Furniture will not divulge this information in any form, to anyone. If you indicate (by clicking a button on the account form) that you would like to receive future mailings, then we will add you to our mailing list. Again, we will not divulge, sell, rent, or give away this list. Your privacy is our concern.

You do not need to log in to browse the site and see our product, however you do need to fill out the form completely if you are going to buy something!

RETURN POLICY

How do I return an item?

For our items, you may return the item(s) in good condition, within 14 days of delivery, for replacement product or another item. We will promptly send you a replacement after you have returned the product. Be sure to return your items via an insured carrier. R Furniture is not responsible for lost returns. There is a 20% restocking fee. Please notify us via email at admin@rfurniture.com or call 818-592-0815.

For Custom Orders, all sales are final. The purchase is nonreturnable.

I returned an item. When will I receive my credit?

SHIPPING METHODS

Standard Shipping: This is the "default" shipper. When possible, our default shipping is UPS. For oversize orders, we use blanket wrap divisions from various shipping companies and other forms of delivery. Shipping rates are based on shipments to commercial addresses. We reserve the right to cancel an order because of shipping rates not being feasible. We will review any problems with shipping rates before charging customer for shipping.
